Recent internet trawling also turned up another graphic novel memoir ... Stitches by David Small. It arrived from amazon yesterday and I ate it up all in one gulp. Even at 325 pages it's a fast read. BUT. I know I did little more than just skim it, and it's the kind of thing that I will come back to over and over and over again. It's spare, lasering in on very specific childhood horrors... but so visceral. There's a lot of screaming encased in these pages.

In a weird way it might be the perfect springboard for the dark_fest thing I'm trying to write.

In other randomness, I missed the White Collar season finale as I was out laughing at sparkly vampires ... but I LOATHE cliffhangers, and I hear we got one. Should I bother to seek it out, knowing it might annoy me muchly, or do I just wait until they ramp up again for season two and catch it then? Thoughts?

I keep seeing, in various places, mention of this: [livejournal.com profile] letiantorest and every time I have seen it I have misread it as Letian Forest. Anyone need to name a forest? LOL. It's yours.

Having lunch today (at Taco Bell. Goodbye diet) with my last remaining (more or less) friend from high school. We've got a weird dynamic going on. Increasingly we have just nothing in common, but we've been friends for so long I don't think either of us wants to stop being friends. I don't know. It's just weird. We get along fine as long as the only thing we talk about is how much work sucks.

OK, speaking of work, it's time to get back this film about Rwandan genocide...

I see Letian Forest, too. It sounds leafy!

Youuuu should watch the White Collar finale. The cliffhanger isn't bad, IMO. And it's a good ep!

OK, I've caught up now... and breathing a sigh of relief that it wasn't one of those super heated cliffys that I hate.

oh Mozzie.

"In the broad-leafed splendour of the Letian Forest, a small child sat crying."

totes the first line of a fantasy novel! :)

I totally keep reading it as Letian Forest. I had no idea what it was about until I kept seeing it and finally decided to click on it. OHHH! It's Let Ianto Rest. My God, I had no idea it was anything about Ianto at all. I can't even believe people are still getting so bent out of shape about all this, on all sides. (Why are there even sides, it's all so ridiculous.) Maybe they should have put underscores in it: Let_Ianto_Rest.

Glad to know I'm not the only one that thing is playing tricks on, eyeball wise :)

that comm (and I know NOTHING about it) seems a bit like those silly people in theaters who VERY LOUDLY SHUSH PEOPLE.

LOL i always misread it, too! not sure mine made actual words, tho (i secretly think all these different comms about 'moving on' or 'not letting go' are kind of stupid... guess it's not so secret anymore)

also, i just ordered that book from my library (b/c i'm poor and can't just buy books!) am looking forward to reading it

re: HS friends - i kinda know how you feel, this one girl from HS, we were more or less besties, now we just have so little in common and it's kinda sad :(

I support supporting libraries! :)

I've ordered a bunch of stuff from other branches and ILL recently too to try and get a handle on my purchases. Let me know what you think.
