I really do try not to dwell on the negative... but here's an example of the kind of thing I overhear nearly every morning, which drives me crazy. I'm settling into my office and reading my emails and all that, meanwhile I'm listening to my coworkers in the office across the hall reading their emails to each other and discussing them.

S: I have an email here inviting me to a retirement reception for the Dean. [reads details of event]. Well, I don't think I'LL be dropping by. I'm sure she would look at me and go, "who are you?"

OK. Well, dear co-worker. If the Dean does not know your name that's you own fault. She knows MINE. [also pps ... we ALL got the same email...]

Frankly, I'm pretty sure our current Dean DOES know their names. She's a pretty with-it cookie, and only hope the new Dean treats us as well.

My co-workers take on the new Dean ... "Well, I'm sure WE'LL be the LAST department she visits."

Christ on a cracker, people. One of these days they're going to say something positive and I am going to fall over in shock!!
