venting ... not tl, but possibly dr...
Nov. 15th, 2011 10:08 amI should probably just write this to write it and then personal lock it, but I seem to need to vent ... a small vent this morning.
Now, while I admit that Facebook, the corporation does a lot of things I don't like, my own Facebook page works pretty well for me. Lets me interact with non-digital friends, even if I've got about as much chance of seeing 99% of my FB friends in person as seeing some of my digital friends in person. But it does give me some sense of community on a daily basis and lets me chat with people and whatnot.
But.
I am getting very tired of seeing status requests asking for my prayers for x, y, or z.
And.
We've now entered the season where all those people wanting prayers from me now want me to feel sorry for them because they are somehow being persecuted by those people who want them to say Happy Holidays and not Merry Christmas.
On a personal level, if they find comfort in whatever their religion is, then I think that's great. But all this 'feel sorry for us poor beleaguered Christians' nonsense is very wearying. Can't they see that it's exclusionist and small-minded? And annoying for those of us who are not religious.
I am on the side of inclusion and thinking bigger, not smaller. I just makes me sad along with being mad and tired of hearing the same things over and over. So now I got back to grin and bearing it. Part of existing in a community I guess. But it doesn't make me very merry, all the same.
