Nov. 9th, 2011 10:23 amSo we just had a departmental staff meeting, and our Spanish, Italian and Portuguese/Latin American Studies librarian told us she's leaving at the end of January. Sad as she's very nice (if a bit wifty), but still happy for her. But as everyone (i.e. the Librarians in the room) was divvying up her "languages" I just sat there thinking wow, I'm such a schmuck with my mostly non-existent high school French, and thinking how I should think about learning a new language ...
Ah life in a Humanities Library ... these people are all crazy talented!!
Right before I left the old job I processed a dvd about bi-lingual elementary schools. Part of me kind of wishes I'd had something like that. I'd like to be fluent in more than one language.
But yeah, it's probably one of those things I'll never get around to doing. But somehow in the back of my head I think I should. Shall I add it to the bucket list?
