So. Sunday. Sitting here “wasting” time until I can go to the grocery store. Small town rhythms. Never go to the grocery store right around noon on Sundays … all the churchgoing folk stop there on the way home and it’s crazy busy.
Have done my week’s menu planning, and made my grocery list. The thing I think is so wearing about dieting is all the effing paperwork!
But, one week in and I’ve lost five pounds. When I get to the store I want to heft a five pound bag of sugar for full effect :0)
I suspect it will get harder to lose, but so far it hasn’t been TOO bad. I hate feeling hungry, but I have to learn to see it as a positive thing, and that’s all headspacy.
The computer tells me I still have 131 pounds to lose to become “healthy” – IT’S definition. I don’t actually have an ultimate weight goal except for LESS. On one had I feel like I should have something to work towards, but really, anything LESS is good. It would be nice to get down to a size where I can buy pants in a regular store, and not have to special order them. That would be a good day … to be able to go into a regular store and buy jeans. Now there’s a goal.
Okay, time to go and take some more painkillers for my headache, and toddle off to the store…

Do you drink sodas? If so, throw them out. Instead, get sparkling water, grab some limes or lemons, and make your own sparkly drink.
The right fats are your friend. Seriously. Avocados, olive oil, real mayo, nuts (almonds!). Low-fat is your enemy. Sugar--possibly. For me it is. Fruits, veggies, nuts, healthy fats, no sodas, no foods with additives-eating clean, eating natural as possible, eating 1800-2000 calories a day...it takes time but it works. I'm proof, sister is proof, her husband, my daughter...lol I have two co-workers starting in on it because they finally believe me about what is evil and what is not!
Walking, good sleep, no alcohol. Pedicures, manicures, bubble baths... LOL!!!! I heartily recommend planning a vacation, taking up something relaxing, walking dogs too...in other words? Making eating a part of your life, NOT your life.
Seriously. I swear finally getting that has been the key to my being able to, at age 47, to lose the weight and keep it off without killing myself in the process.
A wonderfully-inspiring television show we love is You Are What You Eat. BBCAmerica...they had a marathon this weekend. Really, watching that last year with my daughter really smacked me hard. I jumped right into it--she finally did recently and has lost 25. My sister has lost 35 so far.
I totally believe you can do it. TotallY!

p.s. after all that discussion about The Birds last night, I dreamt of birds all night long and woke during a dream where I was being pursued by 40,000 chickens!!!
:0)thanks for the encouragement tho... means a lot!
