My dream once upon a time was to turn this building into a great hotel.

"The Academy" was, in it's day THE school to send the future leaders of the state to.



Eventually, it turned into low income housing.

And then one day, this happened...



Don't play with lighters, kids, we lose history (and dreams) that way...

yep. as they had to do with the other major structure fire that took out a historic hotel that anchored the main cross street in town. empty lots of rubble both, now.

sad, yes, but a sign of the times...

It is sad. I love historical buildings, so that is really doubly sad. Sighs to the sighs.

Yeah. I used to like the smell of woodsmoke. Now it makes me nervous.

But... there are still lots of great old buildings left around here... so that's somthing!!
