AE: What's it like to be part of Janto? They're absolutely one of the most beloved same-sex couples I've ever seen. They're going to live on in people's minds even if you never come back. You had quite an impact in a way not many actors get to. What's it like to be a part of a couple like that?
GDL: It's been amazing. I'm very flattered that the relationship between Jack and Ianto is held in such high regard. It makes me feel humble as an actor that it's affected people in that way. It started my career, launched my career, and made me mature as a person. It will always be the most important role of my life.

I adored that interview. GDL's been such a good sport/good soldier about the whole business, and given the persistent rumor that he wanted to leave the show (wtf? no idea where that came from), it was good to hear that both he and JB were taken aback at the prospect of killing off the character.

Also, despite RTD's emphatic denial about bringing him back, it sounds as though the writers suggested that he might have a resurrection down the road (which may simply have been a way to soften the blow, but given what happened with Rose, I wouldn't absolutely discount it). If RTD thought it would help the ratings, he would absolutely do it, I think, and bollocks to his artistic integrity.

You're right; he's a class act. Could not have handled it better.
