8:55 – parking woes. sports camps are crazy making for us regular Uni employees.
9:10 – diet pepsi and a chocolate pudding pie. the perfect slacker brekkie.
9:24 – ritual morning phone call from mother encompassing fascinating details about senior citizen discounts, doing laundry and picking up pinecones.
9:28 – Gee thanks New York Times. You’re still warning us US Torchwood fans to “beware Twitter spoilers.” I don’t Twit (or Tweet?) but I don’t need one more reminder about what I’m missing!
9:32 – the Word of the Day is: panoply
MEANING: (noun) 1. A wide-ranging array of resources. 2. A full suit of armor. 3. A protective covering. 4. A ceremonial attire or paraphernalia.
ETYMOLOGY: From Greek panoplia (a complete suit of armor), from pan (all) + hopla (arms, armor), plural of hoplon (weapon).
I knew definition one. the armor related definition and etymology is new.
9:51 – so last night’s theory at our abbreviated rehearsal was that we’ve rehearsed TOO much. Maybe. MAYbe. (If that’s merely B.S. then the alternative is that the director is giving up!) But we’ve got a gig this afternoon with a small group of high school kids doing a summer poetry camp, so we’ll see how “Emily” does in front of a live audience. Keeping fingers crossed. We’ve got another one friday for a much larger group of kids. So it’ll shake out one way or the other, and we move into the performance space sometime this weekend, so we’re getting closer!!!
9:55 – off to redo stupid paperwork as picky co-worker decided after I did it the first time it needed to be done again, adding another bit of information. I do love a bureaucracy!!
…so there’s the first hour of my day.
