it's my Friday today
May. 3rd, 2012 11:17 amI am ridiculously looking forward to seeing The Avengers at midnight tonight. Not that I care THAT much about the movie. We've seen some/most/all of the movies leading up to this ... we like goofy comic book movies :) ... but I think it's more the experience of doing something that I feel like I never got to do as a teenager ... go out to a new movie late at night with friends etc.
I mean, it wasn't until I was at least 25 that I had any friends of the "hey lets go to the movies this weekend!" variety. (or well, ones of any variety really, but let's not dwell on THAT atm).
Also I was sort of brought up to a) avoid crowds and b) with some sort of weird "if its popular its got to be stupid and not worth your time" philosophy. I've been thinking about that second one for a while now, as it's sort of insidious and I'm not sure where that attitude even came from. But it led to me not knowing much about popular anything (well, except maybe TV but certainly not in a watercooler "hey we gotta watch this cool new show" kinda way.)
It's still twisted up in my head, but anyway, I am taking a four day weekend which starts with a ... MIDNIGHT MOVIE!! :))) Sillyness! Popcorn! Wonderful!!
And then I can come home and make a scrapbook page about it! My second monthly kit should be arriving in the next day or so... I mean, just LOOK at the awesome fun things I will get to play with:
