1. I keep hearing it's going to snow tonight. I am in denial.

2. Washington DC trip with the parentals has been canceled over lack of interest. BOO.

3. Yesterday's talk by Paul Cremo, The Met Opera's Dramaturgist was really interesting as he talked about workshopping a new opera that may debut at the Met at some point. Joint production with the English National Opera. Based on an English murder when one boy used the internet to manipulate another boy into killing him.

He could have subtitled his talk "Everything I ever needed to know I learned in script analysis class..."

His major advice to himself and others whether preparing an opera, or any other kind of a story is to keep these four questions uppermost:

- Whose story is it?
- What do they want?
- What is standing in their way?

and the question you can hopefully answer by the you have refined your story:

- What is the story ultimately about?

Nothing earth shattering there, but useful none the less.

And now back to a documentary about Benedictine monks. Some days a cloistered existence feels very attractive to me. :)
