... and the quiz maker needs better grammar, but it's sort of fun... I really wanted to be Jasmine, but the quiz had me down as Mary.

Title: The Noiseless Tune to Which We Tread
Author: [personal profile] valancy_joy
Rating(s): Adult
Pairings: Ianto/Suzie, Ianto/Jack, Ianto/OC, Ianto/Lisa.
Word Count: ~3,000
Warning(s): Set in the hours after They Keep Killing Suzie, although the memories are from everywhen. Thematically inspired by CoE, but no direct references to it.
a/n: Post CoE, I think we have a much wider pool to play in when it comes to Ianto. In some sense, now, anything goes. So in noodling around with the notion that Ianto is a lying liar who lies... I started to wonder about some of those moments of his life when he felt he needed to hide from the truth.
beta'd by: The marvelous [livejournal.com profile] neifile7  and today's birthday girl [personal profile] amand_r . Rockstars both. You were my very first beta readers! Credit must also be given to some very helpful advice over at TWU!

Summary: For Ianto Jones, reality is what you make of it.

THESE are my scales to weigh reality,—

A dream, a chord, a longing, love of Thee.

Real as the violets of April days,

Or those soft-hid in unfrequented ways;

Real as the noiseless tune to which we tread         5

The measure we by life’s old song are led;

Real as man’s wonder what his soul may be,—

A guest for time or for eternity.

Real as the ocean, seen, alas! no more,

Whose tide still beats along my heart’s inshore.         10

These are my scales to weigh reality,—

A chord, a dream, a longing, love of Thee!

For one thing, I am not dead and my car is still in one piece. This is soley down to luck, however, after the asshat that pulled in front of me as I drove to the post office squeaked past me by inches. Inches. There was much adrenaline after that.

But I got to the post office, and put the cards that I sold from my online shop in the mail. Now to do the paperwork for them. Rotten numbers. Can't I just stick stuff together without worrying about debits and credits? yeah. I know. rough with the smooth. plus, now I have to re-stock!

Feedback is starting to come in on my "Ianto is a lying liar and also a bit of a slut" piece. Very gratifying that it seems to be hitting people's 'wow, wtf' buttons. After all the re-writing and re-thinking I still need a few more days until I'll love it again. Generally by the time I post something I've looked at it so much that  I'm left thinking that if I never read it again it'll be too soon. Actually, this one's interesting to me as I keep re-reading the ending bit as the comments come in, and I sorta love that it while I wrote it to read as a rather upbeat-ish sort of ending, the more I read it, the creepier the interpretations that I come up with. hidden depths, I guess. I know I have them, but they don't always come out in the finished product.

Just finished episode three of Robin Hood over dinner. The episode is entitled "Who Shot the Sheriff?" The titling sort of tells you everything need to know about the series. It's just SO over the top it's hilarious. I cite examples:

Does yelling "Stop!" at a fleeing bandit ever really make him stop?

What the hell are all those knit striped tshirts doing in a english village in 1192? Was the costume staff on vacation that day??

In the second episode, why is the sheriff wearing Hugh Hefner's pajamas?

The "pillow talk" scene between Robin and the Sheriff  in ep. 3 was made in shipper hate sex heaven.

And shooting Marion in the butt with an arrow during a funeral. Eye roll.

Robin and Much have this husband/wife bicker vibe ... however, I am sure there is some shippery Crusades!sex out there.

I just LOL, so it's good escapist TV to nom to.

But now I am off to do the dishes. I'ts just all excitement around the little grey house tonight.
