So send getting-rid-of-things vibes my way. Tonight's a special take out the garbage night, known locally as "Riff Raff Week" where on your regular garbage night you can stick anything out at the curb and they'll come and take it away. (It follows last weekend's Town Wide Yardsale, which I was very good about avoiding since the last thing I need is other people's crap!)

Well, in reality, the junk men/people get there first as they drive around in their trucks all week gathering stuff up. Mostly scrap metal that they then sell by the pound I think.

But. It disappears from your yard. And that's all I really care about. There's an old non-electric treadmill, and a filing cabinet, and a host of other actual junk I am dragging to the curb and letting go of. I'm tired of it taking up space in my garage.

I'm hoping I can combat that gene-deep urge to cling to things that might be "useful. someday." I know that some of the stuff I will put out might be useful, but I tell myself that whoever picks it up will go on to use it in some way that's useful to them. Having stuff sit in a pile in the middle of my house/garage is not useful to me.

Hear that self? LET THINGS GO. lol.

halp. :D

I wish we had something like this here. (Someday's I'd be thrilled with having trash pick up. Not always, but sometimes.) I've been contemplating a similar project and I either need to pay a service or rent a truck to haul stuff to the dump.

I love the name Riff Raff Week! That's awesome. Our junk day is colloquially known as Big Trash Day which is infinitely less creative sounding.
