Success! Reading went over terrifically well. We made enough at the door to cover the room rent, and a little over. The crowd -- an interesting mix of hippie-crunch-granola and Talbot-wearing-women -- responded positively as well, which is the main thing. We got an email this morning saying the dead playwright's son, who'd sponsored this reading, couldn't tell where we'd made cuts. (LOL we hacked the shit out of that thing).

In fact we were trying to get some last minute cuts made when he showed up an hour early. And then there was a little episode where a videographer showed up out of nowhere and my actress friend flipped out a little. Which was all right around the point where we were trying to get the stage area set up and I was getting shaky from not eating and for about 20 minutes everything was a right clusterfuck.

But we got it down to just about an hour long between cutting and some parts where CeeCee was just FLYING through the words.

And then we went and had ten dollar pizza and ran into CeeCee's voice teacher and her wife -- actually we were the only ones in the pizza place dining room at that point, and though we were exhausted we still had a good time.

Then in full doing things backwards mode I finally got around to reading some of the enormous wikipedia entry on the woman the reading was written about. She was FASCINATING. And formidable looking:

So happily we will put this one to bed, and maybe I can finally wash about a week's worth of dishes when I get home tonight. Also make up with my cat who's been putting a bad hate on me lately. *sadface*

Oh, and to end on a happy note ... on my walk down to the PAC yesterday I passed a duck and her NINE ducklings. ZOMG SO MANY DUCKLINGS!

;D

realistically, I was mostly there to hold my actor friend's hand (metaphorically). well, and because I was the one with the fake parakeet :) And I'm a useful person! In no sense did the piece need a stage manager. But hey, I like to come out and play with friends :)))

I need to get pictures off my camera hopefully tonight. Pictures of bookstore, and performance space, and ducklings, and Jinx :)

AAAH so behind on EVERYTHING!
