UGH. So behind. Haven't looked at LJ in days. Fighting a big battle in my head lately between chaos and order.
Which is probably why I was so inspired to redo some/part of my bedroom over my four day break. Which really wasn't much other than stripping the wallpaper off the part of my bedroom that's got cheap panelling -- which took all of about five minutes to do two walls. Paper just popped right off. But then I got inspired to do a distressed peeling wallpaper thing on the one plaster wall of the bit I was redoing. Cue two days of wallpaper stripping and nearly wrecking my already bad shoulder.
But in the end I was able to shove the bed into the alcove-y nook-ish front part of the room (which is only about a foot longer than the bed), put the big dresser along the long wall, and shove the smaller and taller dresser into the corner behind the closet door. put the rocker in the corner next to the bed and PRESTO! NEW ROOM where you don't have to scale the bed every time you want to get to the dressers. Dad came over to help me over the big stuff, and when we finished he asked if I was planning to hold a barn dance in there.
Why I ever pulled the bed into the middle of the room ... (well, it was because I was having out of town guests etc... but still)
I love it.
The only drawback are that since I am determine to listen to these wise words:

| “Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful” -- William Morris I've drug everything that was piled into my bedroom out into other places in the house. Extra furniture, a little tv, SO MANY CLOTHES ... that now my house looks not unlike that which you see on Hoarders. NO REALLY. And somewhat more amusingly (not at 2 a.m. though) since the bed is now shoved up against a window that's nearly as long as the bed, the cat has decided that climbing the curtains is a wonderful game. I hope he gets bored with that soon. Really soon. But on the plus side of the negative, he's now been sleeping with me -- between me and the window. Not sure why the change, but it's cute. Well, when there isn't pouncing! So, the great clothing and crap purge of 2012 continues. I am a single person with a (admittedly SMALL) three bedroom house and WAY TOO MUCH STUFF. THE STUFF MUST GO. Three boxes of books went yesterday to the book sale donation bins. Tonight I start loading stuff for Goodwill into the back of Henry the station wagon so that next weekend I can make that stuff disappear. Let's hope the spring cleaning urge continues at least long enough for me to restore some kind of order to things. |
