Jul. 27th, 2010 11:05 amSo I woke to the smell of wood smoke this morning, which when you live in an old historic Victorian era town is always vaguely terrifying. We've had two major structure fires take out a hotel, and what was once an elite Academy for well-born young men. A lovely neo-Classical structure that had been converted to low income housing. Oh, and at least one of the big historic homes was completely gutted by fire. Oh! and the senior center/office building down the hill from me. FIRE is BAD...
It WAS a structure fire. A house out in the village that's sort to stuck on to the edge of town. Both my long-term RL BFF's live out there. One them couldn't get out of her driveway for a while due to the firetrucks ... the BFF ... yeah. He didn't notice til I facebooked him about it. LOL.
I think I heard the sirens, but I took a OTC sleeping pill/painkiller before I went to bed last night (that 28 and 1/2 minutes on the treadmill last night was ROUGH). So while I would wake up from time to time, I'm not sure I was ever completely conscious!
Had a fun time at work this morning being pestered with the never-ending "but why does the library do it THAT way?" rant. The co-workers seem to think the library spends its time dreaming up ways to make their life more complicated. LOL. Did not think I needed to point out that the one report they get every morning DOES include the barcode number. They've only been staring at this report every morning for at least a YEAR now. Did they not notice?
Days like this I'm glad I'm not the boss of them!
Am off in a couple hours to the dentist so he can drill out an old filling and put an even bigger filling in to the new cavity he discovered when I was there last week. JOY.
Will have a numb mouth, and intend to eat soup or the like for dinner, and spend the night on the couch watching White Collar, Covert Affairs, and Warehouse 13. It's my Thursday TV Trifecta!
