I know many of you who read this might find your thoughts straying to Ianto Jones over the next couple of days. Or maybe not... but either way, I was trying to figure out if I wanted to mark this one year anniversary-of-sorts in any way. I don't know that I do. But in thinking about things I remembered I had saved this screencap from ... what... Day in the Death or one of those in that arc ... because I loved all the bits that surround Ianto's work station. The wine glasses, the orange juice, the beer, the array of cleaning fluids. :D

So I offer up a screencap for your enjoyment. Bonus points if it sparks fiction of any kind. Like someone write me something that explains those hydroponic lettuce growing things. Does Ianto keep a little organic rocket going for a nice after Weevil salad??? Organic weed? What? The mind, it boggles.

So have fun kids. The devil's in the details ... so enjoy this dance with the devil...

(I wish I knew where I grabbed this screencap from, and how I could make it bigger... but I don't)

I think it looks like the episode in which Ianto tried to teach Owen how to make coffee. Love that scene. Yeah, his work area is fascinating. I've been thinking about the fact that it's been a year since COE. I might do my own "post-mortem" about it. Good question about the lettuce. Maybe it's alien, that's why it's under glass. Maybe Jack likes a special juice made out of it, like wheatgrass.

maybe it's alien coffee beans :) there's another better picture which might be on my home computer of those lit cabinets against the wall with all manner of dishware and trays and such... and a bell... for who knows why :)

He's growing an alien grass-head toy. You know those things that have grass growing as hair?

The only reason I mark this time of year is because a year ago, Nick and I were in Cardiff and London.

That is all.

"Your reputation precedes you Ma'am..."

LOL

well, really... way back when/then, I really only knew of you guys from reading your postings to TWU etc. I could never really figure out why you were always talking about Nick reading to you, but then I didn't know where you guys were located back then :) Dunno... weird first impressions when you lurk in places like that.

I don't think I figured out your logistics 'til Mandr's post-it note recap of you and Nick.

Internet puzzle pieces.

LOL ohhh and I haven't been on TWU in AGES. I have really narrowed down where I participate, and who I talk to--my default view is VERY TINY now and I rely on tracking to keep track of others (like your lj).

Yes, I track you... I love your posts! They are all so interesting and entertaining. Your audience should be wider!! pout.

Yes, he reads to me. He's reading Holding the Man right now to me--it is the based-on-fact book written by one of the two men whom it is about, both gone now due to Aids, and the play is the one Nick just saw in London four times. He has the play itself too but we're doing the book. LOL.

Reading time is special.

Nice to know someone is reading :) Mostly I figure no one wants to hear me whining about my life!

Reading time IS special. I suspect I would read more if I had anyone to share books with.

But right now I am waiting to hear from Danes and hopefully going to see them again today at some point...

I see a knife block, wine glasses, a jar of... pens? not to mention the handy chains hanging nearby. And the beer on top of the fridge, because like a true Welshman he drinks it warm. XD

Yeah, he'd serve it cold if pressed but would be highly contemptuous of those naff cold beer swilling ponces. :)

I still haven't been able to bring myself to rewatch CoE. But thanks for this. This is nice. It's like that thing you do, where you remember someone as they were "when they lived". For a given value of lived.

I like the really old fridge, myself. And I think he's growing weed.

Yeah, I haven't watched it since it aired either. Someday maybe, but for now I'll just think about Ianto growing weed to see how long it takes Owen to notice. They can get really wasted during all that time Jack was off with the Doctor or something.

And I mean really, what super secret base is complete with some nice wine glasses :)

scenic design is really fun world-building :)

I want to do a piece that's built on the steampunk esthetic, where it's all about the objects, the objects have their own kind of independent existence, and they inform the action - as, really, our own lives are textured by the objects that are around us. The Hub, really, it's built for that kind of a story. The layers of stuff around, the lack of clear direction or organization, the ad hoc action, the ad hoc lives the characters live, the surprises and the unavoidables that they have to work with.

It's one of my many, many overly ambitious plans that was knocked out by post CoE sadness, and having a baby. But I keep hoping, maybe in a month or two, I'll get back to doing more writing work (more than vaguely thinking about a plot in the 5 minutes between laying down and falling dead asleep, that is).

After they get wasted on the weed, they woobie about missing Jack and then do each other, right? I mean, it *is* fanfic.

Well duh. Of course that's how the fic goes. I have a secret fondness (don't tell :) for Ianto/Owen having 'I loathe you but this is still hot sex.'. <3

cool idea about all the STUFF. Let it percolate and hopefully someday you'll have the time to write it. Someday I'm going to figure out the logistics for the theory I have that Since the Hub sits on/in the rift there are time and phase shifts going on all the time. Maybe someday I'll have the brainpower for that timey wimey opus!

Meanwhile there's all that hatesex... LOL

Okay, so Ianto and Owen are having a fight. Ianto storms off, and half an hour later Owen storms in to the archives, pins him to a wall, sticks his tongue down his throat. They totally do it. And then they can't stop doing it, although Owen is oddly reluctant and surprised the second time, because of course that first tongue!Owen was in fact future!tongue!Owen. It's a timey-wimey hatesex paradox. Hat trick!

THis is exhibit A as to why others are better at plots than I am. But this is TOTALLY going to get written some day :)

HUZZAH!!!
