So my little town has a big Victorian Celebration hoo-haa every year and I used to love going to the opening ceremonies on the courthouse steps. Even though it was usually freezing and the catholic school choir usually did two numbers too many for standing outside ... It was fun. Sometimes I even wore my cape and got into the spirit of things.
But a couple years ago they moved the festivities inside to the Elementary School Auditorium (which hasn't changed since about 1952 although they did switch from institutional green paint to cream about a decade ago) and somehow it just isn't the same.
So I have come up with plan B. There's a local charity tree decorating thing that used to be here at the Uni in the Ag Arena, but this year its moved to the county vocational school. You pay a couple bucks at the door and get to see a bazillion trees decorated by local organizations. And there's entertainment and stuff. So that's my plan for tonight. Go look at trees, and then come home and put up my new white artificial 4-foot tree and see if I can select only cat proof ornaments.
And I'll probably work on a few more scrapbook layouts. Every year I do a "class" that gives us daily prompts of things to document during the holidays. I did three pages last night ... two from scratch and one that I had already done the design for I just needed to add the picture, the writing, and a few embellishments. Really loving single picture layouts with lots of paper layers as well as lots of white space lately. God help me if/when I order/get a new iTouch and can start Instagramming. :) But having so much fun playing with paper. And I'm trying to include a bit of torn out book pages on each layout. I love the text, and the worn paper, and the look so much. UGH. Paper is eating my brain lately. I can't help myself!
