friends of friends...
Jul. 13th, 2010 10:33 amSo... the last couple days the cat has taken to sleeping on the guest bed. That's okay. Sleeping on it is far better than peeing on it! I do miss him curling up next to me, but frankly, I wouldn't want to sleep with me. I roll around too much. And its been sort of adorable the last couple mornings when he just looks up at me as I'm on the way to the bathroom, and then goes back to sleep. Lazy ol' thing!
Anyone know anything about a Newfoundland rock/folk band called Great Big Sea? The pals were all excited that they're coming here in September so we all got tickets in the front row of the balcony at the Perf. Arts Center where I used to usher. They may have to hold my hand that close to the edge of the balcony ... but I'm sure we'll have a great time.
OH ... and I forgot to tell you the weirdest part of my visit with the Danish friends. On their final day in town I drove them back to where they were staying, and was sort of hanging around helping them pack up the car and waiting to say goodbye and all that, when their hostess suddenly remembered that since he hooked up his netbook to her internet, now her computer wasn't working. He took a quick look at it, apologized profusely, and then practically ran out the door like a scared puppy saying "people were waiting on them..." I tried to follow them out the door, but his friend grabbed me and said "You can take a look at it for me, right?"
So I spent the next 45 minutes or so poking around her computer, and talking to her internet provider for her. It took about six transfers -- across several continents I'm betting -- but we finally got someone local who reset the router, and had me restart her computer and then things were fine. I'm still not sure exactly what we did, or indeed what the trouble was. But happy endings and all that. Then she tried to make me stay for dinner! I just barely got out of there with only a bag of grapes and 3/4 of an apple...
"Stop by!" "Call me!" "Keep in Touch!" says she as I'm heading across the parking lot to my car.
Do you get the feeling she's lonely? All her kids are in other places... so I rather think I have adopted a new friend.
