croissan-wishes
Jul. 2nd, 2009 01:49 pmSo I'm back from my lunchtime croissanwich run, and had to dodge the firetrucks and fireworks delivery people twice. (Ok, I could have gone around the block the other way on the way back, but there are extra traffic lights that way...) The locals are gearing up for the fourth-fest.
My local small town fireworks are tonight. Twenty minutes worth ... but still a treat.
I get to take tomorrow off ... but will spend the day in a rare day time rehearsal. Rehearsals are much comfier now that I found that pillow to sit upon, despite hand cramp from writing out 32 line notes last night. (Remember it's a one woman show)
Then I get to spend my actual 4th mowing my lawn since my landlord/dad is still recovering from his surgery earlier this week. How am I supposed to celebrate my independence when the only thing I'm free to do is more manual labor? But I jest. And my yard is small. And mostly weeds anyway.
time to eat the banana I bought with the croissanwich and get back to work.
HEY -- on the plus side of things (I guess, sort of) I just got handed a report and the video we have on white priviledge is the second most difficult video to get ahold of for our patrons. Hopefully that means lots of people/students are watching it and thinking about it. That's the way to roll around Independence Day.
Maybe there is hope... top five most difficult titles to schedule are on:
domestic violence
white priviledge
how being poor makes people sick
the working class and it's image in modern media
rampant consumerism.
maybe there is learning going on in this institution of higher learning. I wonder some days...
