So my dad said the oddest thing the other day. I was over for Sunday dinner and we were sort of vaguely talking about this friend I got via the LOCI fandom who lives in Ireland. We email almost every day, a little something. The parental conversation was something vauge like "have you heard from her lately" and I said she'd been emailing me about the troubles she'd been having with her 17 1/2 year old daughter and the "inappropriate boyfriend." And my dad says, "that's why I wouldn't want to be friends with anyone on the internet. I wouldn't want to have to listen to confessions like that (or something father confessor related I forget the exact way he worded it.)

Which makes me boggle, and wonder what he thinks friendship really entails. Also it makes me want to not think about it to hard.

It's been a good week so far, if tiring. I got three days of training down at our main service desk (where people have to come to check out videos and cd's and AV reserves and some books that are in closed storage). It's been nice to get some training, and really nice to get to work WITH people and not just sit in my office and hope people bring me work soon. Yesterday there were cookies! The main daytime part-timer is great, and our students are really smart and dedicated too. So that's been fun, despite the brain-meltyness of being shown the opening (not SO melty) and closing (MEGAMELTY) procedures. Chasing everyone out of the building and locking up ... I think countries have been invaded with less complexity :) But the student doing today's closing training says he can do it in about 7 minutes. If you're not good at it, its more like 30 minutes. Remind me never to work until midnight, okay?

First rehearsal last night. Character stuff, show arc (it's still being developed), work on our poems, and yes, improving making dresses out of toilet paper. In character. Ideally we'll get audience members to be the suckers to model the dresses ... but that'll be something we'll have to suss out during each performance. And I have a deal of work to do in finding out who my character, Doris, is. And how to feel like her. It's a quandry, but I just have to trust the process I guess.

So I hope it's sunny where you are. Or will be soon. Sunshine is a good thing.
