Just got an email from my friend-who-lives-in-Denmark-with-his-Danish-wife and he finally confirmed that they are NOT staying with me when they are in my town next week. They had been a little vague on this, and when they were here around five years ago, they did stay with me. But that was not in July in the middle of a heat wave. Being sensitive to the heat (and further softened by living in temperate Denmark) I hope they have air conditioning at my friend's elementary school music teacher's house where they ARE staying. So I will not see them as much as I would if they were camped in my spare room... but also this means I do not have to give up sleep for a week in order to clean my house from stem to stern.

I find it ironic that he doesn't want to see a show at the summer theater place as it will be "too hot" but he does want to wander the streets for the local arts festival on while they're here and it's always SCORCHINGLY HOT. But admittedly there are stores to nip into for a break from the heat...

But YAY seeing friends I haven't seen in years!!

Am debating taking myself to the preview performance of the next show after ours at the summer theater tonight. It's their dress rehearsal, and so not everything will be in place, but it's FREE, and that works better into my budget, so I think I will probably go. Support mah pals, do my bit, plus it's not SUPER hot here today so might be a comfy night to be out there.

Elsewise, just catching up with series 1 and 2 of Primeval -- and making a note to look for Primeval/Torchwood xover fics. You just know there have to be some :) You can't tell me Ianto (or Suzie or Tosh or Jack) didn't hack their records to figure out how to deal with Myfanwy...

And working on my first hurt/comfort bingo fic. 'Sexual extortion, high school'  Merlin AU with Morgana and Merlin mostly. Tricky bits still to work out, but I have the basis of something I'm liking. Might be ready to go up in a week or so, hopefully.

Adored the Doctor Who finale as long as I didn't think too much about the specific logic of it. That makes my brain hurt. My Irish friend said she liked it better the second time through. The first time she thought it was too confusing for her girls, and not engaging enough. Certainly there was a lot to wrap up in an hour!

But now I've had my afternoon coffee and chat, so back to work...

Don't ask me. I think the last time they came was in May or something before it got to be horrible and hot and humid. We'll see if they melt next week.

Clip from BnB looked so cute! Ironically, summer theater just posted a video about the musical that opens tonight on you tube today:

No costumes or nothing, but it's the first time they've tried anything like this!

Have tentative date with BFF to see it Friday on his one night off from rehearsals for the NEXT summer theater show ... Streetcar Named Desire. :)

If memorization of lines wasn't involved, I would LOVE to be a part of something like that.

My mom made costumes for several shows here when I was little. I remember all the bright colors and hiding amongst the hanging gold pants, lol, and oh one skit was in drag. I distinctly remember her pinning a guy in a bustiere.

This is what keeps drawing me back to writing Wolfhunter, because one of the characters is a costume designer....

costume designing is so much fun ... and so much work! (and so many egos to keep happy!) LOL.

One of the three production of Grease I have done -- the faculty production -- had the Teen Angel's back up singers be guys in drag. It was ridiculous, but went over well with the crowd :)
