(no subject)
I didn't actually think i was going to get any real work done this morning did I? (well, not really). I should be putting in a supply order, and working on a spreadsheet, but I'm leaving in two hours, and so am not all that motivated.
Auditions last night went pretty well. We could use a few more ladies in their 20s but hopefully can pull together who we need.
It's a piece based on a series of poems by a local writer/instructor about this place: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ospedale_della_Piet%C3%A0
Lovely stuff. And we had audtions in the performance space. It's a really cool/interesting/inspiring old building on campus with soaring ceilings on the first floor. It's basically a rooming house ... providing short term housing for graduates/international students. Not sure how you hook up with the place, or what the rooms are like but it would be a cool place to live. And hilariously in the basement is (or was a few years ago the last time I was there) a sort of rec room/passion pit with floor to ceiling red shag carpeting. I'm sort of inspired to get back to my vague ideas for a series of rooming house stories and set it there.
But if we can pull off what we're aiming for it should be a really lovely show ... the room has burnished red plaster walls, and with candlelights, its going to be an environmental piece where the "audience" will come into the house, and the girls/women will be performing the poems in floaty white dresses, and there will be interludes for the girl singers, and the girl musicans. There'll be a break in the middle for coffee.
Think Vampires in Venice w/o the fish aliens :))) I'm excited to work on it!
Then the 1940's re-created radio show at 12:30 today.
Then tomorrow we're prepping some of the crafty things for next month's show in Hoboken.
Also tomorrow I have to post my reel_merlin fic. Trying not to think about it as I'm super nervous. It's SO not the story I wanted it to be, but it it what it is, and that's going to have to be enough. Anyone have any opinions about what time of day seems best to post? After midnight so it's there for in the morning ... midday ... what's the time that its going to find the most traffic/reception? I've freaked out of this silly story so much I'm hoping a) it doesn't suck and that the revisions I made to it actually improve the story and b) people like it and give me some feedback. *crosses fingers*
