showers and 45 degrees
quick update of a Monday...
1. The house fire I was twittering up a storm about yesterday was a duplex down the hill from me. Took them a couple hours to get the fire under control. Now two families -- ten people, six of them kids -- are homeless. The one families kitten was found injured, but okay after some oxygen and TLC from the firefighters. The other families dog appears not to have been as lucky.
The fire was essentially about two blocks away, but the amount of smoke was just amazing. Totally noxious blocks away, I can't imagine how bad it must have been on site.
Also I expect a lot of press about this, as the building was apparently some form of subsidized housing which was up for sale ... but the sale recently fell through.
2. Signed up for NaNoWriMo with no intention of writing a novel, which feels like cheating, but it's time to get back to the daily writing practice. It seems as good a prod in the butt as any! I'm "Blue Castle" over there if you want add me as a buddy ... and then prod me about word count! Haven't figured out exactly what I want to work on. I have lots of bingo squares I can attack, and a big project I'm thinking about for my craft blog that I might get started on.
I do keep squirreling away things that take me back to my sort of half formed idea for a novel, so perhaps one day I really will be ready to attack that thing. My experience with the long fic recently tells me I need to have my story pretty firmly mapped out so that I don't flounder around trying to figure out where the story goes next and never get any actual writing done!
3. And on the writing front... I posted, late last night, my Morgana is a manipulative bitch fic. I've been pecking at that thing for months now. Actually I started it before I saw where they were going with Morgana's character arc in seasons 2 and 3, and so I feel a bit smug about being on the right track there!
Trying to figure out which comm's to sling it up on. It's not really merlin/arthur so I'm not sure the slash comms I'm watching would want it. If you have ideas... let me know...
but now to make coffee and get some work work done...
